our beginning

In September 1973, Bishop Moses Williams Jr. and Mother Margaret Williams began traveling from Washington, DC. to the House of Prayer Bible Way Church of the Apostolic Faith (aka "The Church on the Hill") on Thelma Road in Roanoke Rapids, NC every weekend for seven years to serve the Lord in the Church.

In 1980, Bishop Williams and his family moved to Roanoke Rapids, NC and lived in the New Yorker Motel for 1 1/2 months,  After which, they were blessed to purchase and move into, what is now known as, the Bible Way Apartments to continue serving the church.

In May 1987, the church formally on the hill moved into the front room of the Bible Way Apartments and was officially incorporated as The Love of God Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.

After many prayers and much effort on July 22, 1990 the church, under the leadership of Bishop Moses Williams with Mother Williams strongly by his side, moved into the newly constructed building we currently worship in today.  This event was celebrated by the church's leaders and members marching from the small front apartment room into the brand new building.

Some of the Church's accomplishments after moving into the new building included: the addition of the dining hall, kitchen are, two bedrooms, an office and a nurse's station.  The church also added the cemetery grounds, baptism pool, steeple, updated PA/Video system, paved the parking lot and updated landscaping.

In February of 2011, the church and the community were saddened by the passing of the church founder, Bishop Moses Williams, Jr.  He served faithfully from 1973 to 2011, preaching and teaching the sound doctrine.  Prior the the passing of Bishop Williams it was his desire to see the mortgage paid in full.  Bishop was able to witness this accomplishment in December 2008.  The church believes whole-heartedly that it is by God's grace and mercy that we were able to reach this milestone.  This was accomplished two years early and two years before Bishop Williams' death.  With fierce determination, the Elders and Deacons continued to work together serving the church.  Everyone knew the business of the Lord must go on.

On May 26, 2012, Elder W.C. Bowser was installed as the Pastor of The Love of God Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith Inc where he had served under Bishop Williams for nearly fifteen years.  Continuing to help and support Elder Bowser is Elder Nelson Woodley.  Other offices and auxiliaries include; Deacons, Church Mothers, Secretaries, Usher Board, Senior Choir, Adult Choir, Sunday School Teachers, Musicians and faithful members.

Under the leadership of Elder W.C. Bowser the church has purchased a fifteen passenger van, developed a Pastor's Aid committee and made numerous renovations to the church.  On June 30, 2017, the church purchased he 3.34 acres of land adjacent to it.

The Lord is continuing to bless the Love of God Church of Christ and we are MOVING FORWARD.  This is why we take the time to worship the Lord and thank him for all his many blessings and wondrous works!  It is by God'd infinite love that we stand here today looking forward to many years of worship and service to Jesus Christ.
